My name is Lindsay Larson and I am the Bonner School Nurse for the 2020-2021 school year, this will be my 5th year working as a school nurse. I grew up in the Bonner area and attended Bonner School as a child. Previous to school nursing I worked in an Adult ICU setting. Last year, my family and I moved back home to Montana from Alaska, where we spent 10 years living. I am so excited to be back and now working in my home town and community. I am here to make sure the students can be their best in both physical and mental health to ensure academic success.
So how do I do that? What is it that school nurses do?
Day to day, you may find me giving out endless ice packs and band aids for the minor injuries acquired by our active and busy learners. You can also find me in the classroom teaching students about health related topics. I spend countless hours documenting and following up on immunization and other health records throughout the fall.
I am responsible for the development of health care plans for our students with life threatening allergies, asthma, and other health related conditions. I also conduct school health screenings and several staff health training classes throughout the year.
I dispense medications and complete other necessary health related procedures and monitoring for students with special needs on a daily basis. And, of course, I help students who aren't feeling well either get through their day with more comfort or determine if they need to go home.
Nurse Lindsay is at the school 20 hours a week 9:30 am - 1:30 pm most days. Please feel free to call, email, or stop by. Phone: (406)258-6151 x112 Email: [email protected]
